Montgomeryshire AM Mick Bates faces an anxious wait in his bid to clear his name on drunken assault charges at Cardiff Crown Court.
Accussed of assaulting paramedics sent to his aid he has told the court that he has no memory of the incident.
Bates, 62, Welsh Assembly Member for Montgomeryshire said he had no memory of assaulting three paramedics or swearing at nursing staff at a Cardiff hospital.
While he denies his guilt, he accepts that he did what the court has heard repeatedly described by his alleged victims.
The defence argues that he was briefly suffering from a rare condition called automatism at the time of the incident. If so, he was neither aware nor responsible for what he was doing.
His trial at Cardiff Crown Court, South Wales, was adjourned until December 8 this week when a medical expert will give evidence for the defence.
The veteran Liberal Democrat politician also revealed that he suffers from a long-standing phobia of hospitals.
Bates is accused of three counts of common assault “by beating” and public order breaches. He denies all charges.
