Radio Maldwyn ‘The Magic 756’ has gone into liquidation, mywelshpool understands tonight.
Although no official statement has been made by the Newtown-based Montgomeryshire radio station, local MP Glyn Davies has already Facebooked his disappointment at the news.
On-line chatter started early this morning with people asking ‘where are there no DJ’s on Radio Maldwyn today?’ and it appears their worst fears have been confirmed this evening.
Mr. Davies wrote: “Sorry to hear that Radio Maldwyn has gone into liquidation. I hope that whatever arrangement takes over allows for the continuation of a strong local content, run from the local radio station in Newtown.”
It is believed that several parties have expressed an interest in taking over the station but, for the time being, the station’s frequency on 756mw will continue playing music and advertising only.
The station was launched back in 1993 as a community co-operative but it became a Limited Company in the late 1990s.
