Thermals? check; anti-freeze? check; and… sledges? check!

Local residents have shown their resilience this week in the face of the harshest November weather for decades, and they’ve even had time to have some fun!
Sledges have been flying out of the shops as quickly as thermal underwear, anti-freeze and heaters as the past week’s snowfall, combined with school closures, have encouraged locals to hit the slopes.
“We sold over 100 sledges in the space of 36 hours!” said Paul Alexander (right), from Alexanders on Broad Street. “We sold out but managed to get more stock in and still have some left for the weekend.”
Local shops have coped admirably with the rush for essentials and as well as more than 300 pairs of thermal socks and dozens of heaters being sold, Mr. Alexander said there had been high demand for bird food and candles.
Down the road and the residents from the Llanfair area have been doing their best to keep business ticking over. The farming community has been battling the elements and one local business has been rushed of its feet providing the industry with essentials.
“We have never sold so much anti-freeze,” said Rupert Shingler from Dennis Shingler & Sons. “We have sold a lot of trade space heaters which we receive from three suppliers who have all run out of stock. We have been extremely busy since Saturday and it will no doubt continue until the freeze is over.”
The cold snap shows no sign of easing as we head into the weekend with more freezing temperatures and snow showers forecasted.
