Oil spillage closes Red Bank

Mums and dads on their way to pick up their children from Ardwyn School were among motorists who found Red Bank closed this afternoon.

Police and Powys County Council staff were on hand to clear up what is believed to be a spillage on the road close to the junction with Salop Road.

The road was sealed off to traffic attempting to turn up Red Bank from the town.

A police spokesman said Powys Council environmental staff had been called in to deal with a spillage of what was believed to be either oil or diesel.

Powys County Council confirmed they had staff on the scene and a spokesman said the closure would be for only for a very short period while the spillage was treated..
