OTMS (58)
Averages for OTM’s 103.26ppkg and 118.73ppkg for the younger cows. Top price of the section was £1086.96 from H M Powell,White House, for a Blonde D’aquitaine cow weighing 647kg. A Limousin cow 48 to 72 months weighing 691kg from EW & GM Jones & Son, Moat Farm, made £1167.79. An Under 48 months Simmental heifer from DH & MA Lewis, Pinion, weighed 675kg and made £1086.75. A Limosuin Steer, under 48 months, from TH Davies & Son, Clegyrddwr, made £1009.26 weighing 534kg. A Limosuin Bull under 72 months weighing 961kg made £1662.53 from A Rees & Son, Tynllwyn.

PRIME CATTLE (9)
9 prime cattle forward selling to averages of 192.06ppkg for Top medium steers and 205.99 for top heavy heifers. Overall average of 202.97ppkg. Overall top price went to G Bound & Son, Cefnbach, for a Limousin Heifer weighing 522kg making 249ppkg, also from the same home another Limousin heifer 540kg making 237ppkg. E Watkin, Tybrith, presented a Limousin heifer weighing 532kg making 204ppkg. EE & MJ Jones, Cwmbychan, presented 6 cattle making a top of 194ppkg.
PRIME HOGGETS (4356)
A entry of 4356 prime hoggets saw an overall average of 183.52pp/kg.
Super Lights (22) to 176pp/kg from g Bound & Son, Cefn Bach. Others to 170pp/kg from IWL & PE Evans, Maescarneddau. Average of 168.14pp/kg.
Lights (457) to 212pp/kg & 208pp/kg from MRM Matthews, Tanyfron. Others to 197pp/kg from JE Owen & Co, Gilfach. Average of 179.17pp/kg.
Standards (1289) to 239pp/kg from S H Lloyd & Son, Penllan. Others to 218pp/kg from H S Davies & Sons, Yew Tree. Average of 185.47pp/kg
Mediums (1810) to 289pp/kg from S H Lloyd & Sons, Penllan. Others to 272pp/kg from H M Powell & Son, White House. Average of 183.12pp/kg.
Heavies (558) to 207pp/kg from C L Watkins, Bank Farm. Others to 204pp/kg from J Pope, Old Grit. Average of 174.61pp/kg.
Over Weights (180) to 192pp/kg from N Evans & Co, Tynycelyn. Others to 189pp/kg from CE & GT Davies, Derwen. Average of 162.14pp/kg.
CULL SHEEP (1914)
Averages for the cull saw £66.47 for ewes (1738 forward) and £77.85 for rams (134 forward. Top price for ewes was £118 for a pen of 2 from E H Pennie & Son, Gwern-yr-ychain. J Ruggeri, Gwaelodyrhos, presented a pen of 3 ewes making £117. £116 was achieved for a single ewe from H M Poweel & Son,White House. Rams topped at £116 from IM & SE Woosnam, 167 Sycamore Drive. Weekly sales of cull to commence at approximately 12 noon, after the sale of prime hoggets.
STORE LAMBS
There was an entry of 620 store lambs forward this week selling to an average of £56. Top price of the day went to DA & SJ Jones, Dyffryn, for strong Texel cross tup lambs selling to £74. Texel cross mixed and clean lambs forward from TEA Owen, Hollybush, sold to £69. There was an entry of two Texel cross cade lambs selling for £24 and £23.
Same again next week, with store lambs selling from 10.30am followed by cade lambs.
IN-LAMB EWES
This week we saw an entry of 90 in-lamb ewes with 62 being sold. Forward from AC Williams, 20 Chirbury Gate, saw smashing Texel x yearling ewes sell to £155. These were scanned 200%, due to lamb at the end of February to a Charollais Tup. A mixture of 2 & 3 year old Lleyn ewes sold to £102. These were all carrying triplets and due to lamb on the 8th March to a Suffolk tup. Full mouth ewes from the same home also sold to £102. As found mule ewes forward from A M Jones, Middle Farm, sold to £76. These were scanned at 100% lambing from 1st April to a Suffolk tup. Same again next week, with in-lamb ewes following the store lambs.
Unfortunately we were unable to sell the only couples on offer today as they were tagged incorrectly. From 2015 lambing onwards ALL sheep must have either full EID tags or at least electronic slaughter in the lambs, as appropriate. Please ensure ALL sheep are appropriately tagged or we will be unable to sell them. Any further queries please contact the Mart office.
