Llanfair Carnival a month away

20/05/2015 @ 01:02

Llanfair Carnival returns again this year with a line up of local talent, fair rides and sporting events to excite the crowds.

On June 20, the day kicks off at 12.30pm when the floats congregate at the railway car park. The theme is Wales to mark the coming of the National Eisteddfod in Meifod this summer.

The Queen, Gracie Cornell, will arrive by train carriage into Llanfair Caereinion, accompanied by her attendees whose names were drawn out of a hat at a special event at Llanfair Caereinion Primary School earlier this month. The lucky ones include Charlie Lewis, Llion Smith, Leri Jones, Eva Rowley, Kelsie Webster, Mia Fitzerald, James Andrew and Jake Booth.

A new Float Category has also been created in memory of Sue Human, who was one of the Carnival’s best supporters. The award is for the Best Individual Entertainer on a Float to mark Sue’s fantastic contribution to the Carnival and her commitment to the Black Lion’s Float over many years.

Other Float categories are Best Adult, Best Child and Best Comical theme. Entry forms can be found at www.llanfaircarnival.com.

The walking fancy categories include Under 4's, Under 7's, Under 11s and over 12s, Adult, Best Dressed Pram. Entertainment includes a fun fair, face painting, children’s play area and sports competitions and performances by Powys Dance, Llanfair Caereinion Primary School, martial arts MD Warriors, magician Kevin Duffy and musician Sam Gomm.

Spaces are available for stalls both commercial and not-for profit and for booking forms are on the website or contact Beth King on 01938 811 842.

For further information, to arrange disabled parking (as there are a limited number of spaces), or to volunteer, contact Ruth Bates on 01938 811 734 or visit www.llanfaircarnival.com

Ruth, speaking on behalf of the Carnival Committee, said: “We hope it will be another fantastic day with something for everyone. We thank all those who have volunteered to help us over the coming month and on the day.
