Welshpool counting down to carnival day on Monday

Organisers are counting down to carnival day in Welshpool with a wide-ranging line-up confirmed for Bank Holiday Monday's event.

The event will feature all the traditional fun of carnvivals gone by with added entertainment on Maesydre throughout the afternoon. The processions sets off through the town at 1pm with a theme of Past, Present and Future.

“The Carnival Committee with the Town Council supports has worked hard to create a fun filled day with numerous attractions,” said a spokesperson.

This year the carnival welcomes:  

- Olaf (from Frozen)      -Donkey Rides 
- Circus Scene                -Fun Fair  
- Crazy Golf                   -Ferret Racing  
- Dog Show                    -Horse and Carriage for the Victory Queen  
- Birds of Prey                -Animal Petting Corner  
- Performances in the Main ring  
- Talent Show

Those people entering the parade are to meet in Berriew Street Car Park (outside the Scout Hut) at 12noon , for judging to take place at 12:15. 

The Carnival Shop Window Competition, following the Past, Present and Future theme, was judged yesterday (Friday) when first place went to Lovedays in Hall Street with Morris Marshall & Poole claiming second place. The judges were the Mayor Councillor Malcolm Douglass and Councillor Heather Chave.
