Motorcyclist fell in front of car

28/06/2015 @ 09:11

A motorcyclist died when she fell in front of an approaching car just outside Welshpool an inquest has heard.

Powys Coroner Andrew Barkley recorded a conclusion of death by road traffic accident after hearing that 29 year old Melanie Roseanne Lakin died on the A458 approaching the Raven Roundabout when returning from a day out with her boyfriend, who was riding another motorcycle.

The inquest heard how Miss Lakin, of Tamworth, lost control of her bike as she approached the rear of a green Toyota Yaris, skidding before coming into contact with the vehicle

Miss Lakin had then fallen off her bike and landed with her head on the opposite side of the carriageway and was struck by a BMW travelling in the opposite direction

Recording his conclusion Mr Barkley said it had been a “cruel twist of fate” that Miss Lakin’s bike had fallen one way not the other.
