Council battling to collect rubbish

Some Welshpool bins were not being collected today as refuse collectors battled against the Arctic conditions.

"In winter weather, we will make every effort to collect rubbish and recycling from households across the county," said a Powys County Council spokseman. "However, the council's priority is to keep the public, their property and the crews safe, therefore some collections may be disrupted.

"Residents are advised to put their rubbish and recycling out on their normal day of collection and if it is not collected after two days then to take it in and put out again the following week."
