Changes to the Council cabinet

A reshuffle of Powys County Council cabinet responsibilities has been announced by the Leader of the Council, Councillor Barry Thomas.

The changes, which affect adult services, property, housing and children’s services, were announced last night (Tuesday).

“The changes will come into force with immediate effect and are designed to give cabinet members new challenges and wider experience of council operations. Changing areas of responsibilities is common practice in government, and just like the Welsh Government, I believe it’s important to give portfolio-holders an opportunity to look at services with a new outlook and develop fresh ideas,” he said.

Councillor Darren Mayor will become cabinet member for Property, Buildings and Housing; Councillor Stephen Hayes will become cabinet member for Adult Services, with Councillor Graham Brown taking responsibility for Children’s Services.

Councillor Brown will remain a deputy leader and retains the portfolio for Commissioning and Procurement.
