‘Say NO to Ageism’

Residents in Powys are being urged to ‘Say NO to Ageism’ today (Thursday) as part of Older People’s Day.

The international day of older persons, Older People’s Day celebrates the amazing contribution made by older people across the world.

Now Powys County Council will be joining forces with the Older People’s Commissioner for Wales to Say NO to Ageism today.

Cllr Darren Mayor, Cabinet Member for Older People, said: “Research shows that over a third of older people – that’s over a quarter of a million older people in Wales – have experienced some form of ageism.

“In today’s society this is not acceptable and that is why we are supporting the Older People’s Commissioner for Wales’ campaign to ‘Say NO to Ageism’ and we are urging our residents to join us in this campaign.
