Vince goes against the grain

When you mention hair and charity, normally it means someone is in for the chop (or the shave!), but a well known man Welshpool is going ‘against the grain’.

Vince Roberts is an easily recognisable figure about the town due to his short cropped hair, but he may go unnoticed in the coming months following a decision to raise charity cash.

“There are two charities that have done some excellent work supporting people close to me so I wanted to do something for them over a length of time,” said Vince.

“So I have decided to grow my hair over the next 12 months!”

Vince started growing his locks in June and has already gained quite a barnet so expect him to be almost unrecognisable by next summer!

“I will be shaving it off again after the 12 months!” he said.

Vince is raising money for two cancer support charities - the Lingen Davies Unit in Shrewsbury and Maggie’s Centre.

“A couple of lads I know are currently battling cancer through the Lingen Davies Unit and Maggie’s Centre in Dundee (Scotland) helped my wife's sister who sadly passed away, aged just 34. Also they helped her father who passed away two years ago.”

Charity boxes are currently set up in One Stop and The Tuck Box and there are sponsorship forms in The Pheasant , The Grapes as well as One Stop .

“It is the first time I have done anything like this but I felt I should try and support these two excellent charities,” he said.
