Guilsfield’s impressive young striker Adam Jenkins (right) has been called into the Wales schoolboys squad.

Jenkins has been a key part of the Huws Gray Alliance club's squad since joining from Welshpool Town pre-season and has caught the eye of selectors during matches with the Central Wales youth team.

He has now been included to play in a trial match against English Colleges today (Monday) when the squad is trimmed down further.

“It was a phone call out of the blue but I am really looking forward to it,” he said.

Jenkins follows in the footsteps of Guilsfield team mate Ross Frame who was a part of the Wales schoolboy team last season.

Guilsfield boss Russell Cadwallader paid compliment to Jenkins saying: “The call up is thoroughly deserved. Since arriving at Guilsfield I have been really impressed with his professional attitude and believe he has a big future in the game.”

If Jenkins makes the final cut, he can expect to represent his country against Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, England as well as youth teams from Stoke and Manchester United
