There were wins for Harry Bowen and James Evans in two big qualifying events at Welshpool Golf Club on Saturday.
The Robin Annison medal scratch play qualifier was won by the in-form Bown(4) with a fine score of net 69 while Evans (25) won the Brandon Smith qualifier with a 93(68) score. Both competitions now go into a matchplay knockout format with the winners finally emerging in August. 
On Sunday, 60 players from Welshpool participated in the first of the Mid Wales Golf Association better ball matches at Penrhos. Leading Welshpool results, with a fourth place on count-back, was the club captain John Morley and Kevin Salter with 39 points.
Ray Bowen(21) triumphed in the P R Ford Trophy (Seniors) on Tuesday with 35 points. Graham Moss(14) was second with 34 points beating Richie Amyes(28) on countback.
Keith Roberts(19) won Thursday's (seniors) Golfer Of The Year round three with 34 points beating in-form Richie Amyes(28) into second place on count-back. Will Cooke(20) was third with 30 points.
