Rugby youngsters awarded

Welshpool Rugby Club's Junior Academy celebrated the end to their most successful season yet with a Sponsored Walk and Awards Day.

Despite losing numerous fixtures to the poor weather this season, the Academy played a total of 207 fixtures this season, our highest total yet, from Under 7s to Under 16s. Over 170 youngsters represented the club, the highest total in the five seasons since the Academy was formed.

“We've continued to build strong links with local schools, and are already planning for how to make next season even better!” said Barry Williams, who is in charge of the Academy set-up.

“The club would like to congratulate all the award winners, and thank all of our junior coaches for their continued hard work.”
