Russell Cadwallader has taken over as chairman of Welshpool Town in a behind-the-scenes shake-up of the Spar Mid Wales League club.

Just weeks after moving up from Manager to General Manager Cadwallader has a new role following the decision of former chairman Dean Gill to stand down. Gill and wife Kate will continue to be involved with the club.

Club stalwart Clive Rowlands has succeeded Brian Jones as president.

Pool recently announced the appointment of Terry Ingram as manager but after playing at Abermule last week were unable to field a side for Friday night’s scheduled fixture at Llansantffraid.

Cadwallader told MyWelshpool he was pleased to be given the opportunity to lead the club.

“I hope to build on the work done by the previous chairman in helping to re-establish the club and will also look to continue the invaluable link established with the youth and junior sections,” he said.

“I will be looking to reconnect the football club with the town and give local players the opportunity to progress to represent Welshpool at the highest possible level.”
