It is not easy for local sports clubs to secure sponsorship, but enjoying some national success certainly helps!

Llandrinio-based Go Judo has been chalking up the medals across the UK through its young athletes, and it has announced a new sponsorship deal with a prominent local company.

J.T. Hughes Hyundai has handed over £700 for the club to upgrade its equipment to cope with the growing influx in numbers as more youngsters want to get into the sport.

“This is an important milestone in the club’s history,” said coach Pete Castell.

“I would like to thank Mr Paul Tench of J.T. Hughes Hyundai who has kindly agreed to financially support our club. This money will be added to money already fund raised to purchase new mats and equipment.”

Go Judo has been running for over two years, and Pete says the recent success is down to “the players’ commitment and desire to progress and this has achieved amazing results, British Schools Champions and Welsh Champions to name a few”.

“We are also working towards the Welsh Championships and the British Open in December in Sheffield,” he added.

Go Judo now have a Friday night club for 3-5 years called Superstars which focuses on agility, coordination and Fun. The club meets at Llandrinio Village Hall on Tuesdays and Fridays. Beginers classes are 6-7pm with junior and senior from 7-8pm.
