Friendships go out of the window

In what could be a massive week for the club, Technogroup Welshpool manager Chris Herbert is no longer being ‘Mr Nice’.

The boss is ignoring off-the-field problems which have cast a shadow over the club’s future to focus on the on-pitch revival as he plots the downfall of the high flying club he left to join the Lilywhites in November.

And to make sure his troops are in top shape for the battle with GAP Connah’s Quay, he will be hosting Four Crosses in a friendly on Wednesday night.

“Friendships will go out of the window on Saturday,” said Herbert. “I have a lot of good friends at GAP but for 90 minutes the old friends act is on hold.

“I know everything about them and they will be coming to Welshpool expecting to go away with three points. I want to go against the form book and cause a big upset.”

And Herbert believes Wednesday night’s friendly could well give them the perfect preparation for Saturday.

“It will be a great test for us as Four Crosses have six or seven ex-Town players who will be out to prove me wrong for letting them leave,” he said.

The match at Maesydre will kick off at 7.30pm.
