Ambitious Berriew announce plans

Title chasing Berriew have made a major announcement off the pitch after securing a healthy grant from the Welsh Grounds Improvement scheme.

The club, hoping to win the Spar Division One in order to return to the Huws Gray Alliance, have unveiled plans for a new 100-seater stand at the Recreation Ground.

Despite passing the requirements that the Huws Gray Alliance requires, Berriew are adding the 100 seated stand to comply with FAW Tier 2 Licencing criteria.

Manager David Jones (pictured) said: “We are delighted to receive the grant of £17,700 towards the installation of a new 100 seater stand. The club is ambitious both on and off the pitch with the aim of hopefully attaining Huws Gray Alliance football in the next few years, and in order to do so we will need to achieve the FAW Tier 2 Licensing criteria which becomes mandatory in April 2018 and this funding will of course help us towards this target.”

Berriew are currently second in the table, two points behind Rhayader.
