Festival of Sport meeting

Sports clubs and organisations in Welshpool will reconvene tonight in a bid to resurrect the town’s annual Festival of Sport.

The once-popular festival has not run for several years and used to see annual events taking place all across the town organised by local clubs, often encouraging newcomers to try out various sports.

Welshpool Town Council’s Events and Tourism Committee recommended relaunching the festival and the council approached local sports bodies who met on, February 21.

There was a good turn out at the meeting and clubs will meet at the Town Hall again tonight to present their ideas.
