Forden endurance runner Andy Davies has shown that he is in a strong position to clinch a Wales Commonwealth Games marathon spot by finishing second at the 2017 Vitality Liverpool Half Marathon.

The Newtown campus college lecturer, who represented Wales at the last Games in Glasgow, clocked an impressive time of 1:07.14 to finish behind the in-form Dejene Gezimu who ran it in 1:05.52.

Davies (on left) was more than a minute ahead of third placed Ben Johnson.

The race attracted more than 5,000 runners and was flagged away by former Liverpool legends Ian Rush and Robbie Fowler.
