Spencer hits top form

Ian Spencer scored the round of his golfing life to win the second round of the President’s Cup competition at Welshpool on Sunday.

Spencer, a 19 handicapper, scored a gross 82 to runaway with the honours on 43 points – eight points ahead of nearest rival Rob Beech (22) who cane in with 35 points. Dave Evans (22) was third on 34.

A better back nine gave Mark B. Williams(21) the Puleston Jones Cup with three players returning scores of 40 points in the stabelford event. Graham Jones (12) and Jim Mason (16) were forced to settle for second and third places.
