Watkins off to good start

After a disappointing 2016 Welshpool rally driver James Watkins has got 2017 off to a good start.

After a good finish in the North Wales Rally, the Pirelli Welsh National Championships opening event of the year he went even better in the Welshpool based Plains Rally.

Watkins finished 31^st in a very competitive field of 135 cars at the wheel of the Geoff Jones Motorsport Team prepared  Subaru with Chris Whittal on notes.

“We had a great event with the car running faultlessly and the stages in good conditions,” said Watkins.

“It was one of my best results, finishing fourth in the Welsh Championship points.”
