Montgomeryshire’s shooters have returned from another weekend of competition across the border with podium honours.
The West Midland 11s Tournament was organised by the Montgomeryshire & District League’s Alan Baker at the Victoria Hall in Broseley, and a number of local shooters made the trip.
The format was a standard 6yd Bell Target, 10 shots, with a clean bull scoring 11, then 10, 9, 8 etc. The maximum score possible being 110.
Taking part this year were five Bell Target leagues from around the region including Shrewsbury, Wenlock, Wolverhampton, Bridgenorth and Montgomeryshire and the trophies were evenly won by the various league shooters.
Overall
Gareth (Gaz) Griffiths, Shrewsbury (107), closely followed by Richard Lewis (106) (Monty), Donna Harris, Wenlock (106) and Stuart Morgan, Wenlock (106).
Ladies
Donna Harris, Wenlock (106), with Jane Thomas (Monty) and Tabitha Corbett (Monty) both scoring 104 to claim equal runners up.
Junior
Tabitha Corbett, Monty (104) with Joe Hilditch, Monty (101) claiming runners up and Aaron Knight, Monty (100) in third.
Seniors
Peter Goodwin, Bridgnorth (104) with Paul Hopkis, Wolverhampton (103) second.
Team of Four
Won by the Montgomershire team of Paul Phillips, Martin Pearce, Richard Lewis and Richard Morgan with a combined score of 414. The runners up were the Wenlock League with a combined score of 411.
Pairs
Won by the Montgomeryshire pair of Paul Phillips and Richard Lewis with a combined score of 208 with two other Monty pairs of Jane Thomas and Paul Gwilliam and Richard Morgan and Martin Pearce sharing runners up spot along with R Alderson and S Morgan of the Wenlock League, after each pair shot 206.
