Golfers chip in £3,800

Lakeside golfers have chipped in together to raise a big amount for the Wales Air Ambulance this season.

A number of fundraisers have been held at the club and it resulted in the £3,800 being given to the lifesaving charity.

Meanwhile, it has been a busy few weeks at Lakeside with the improving weather producing some competitive golf.

The Team Championship was held recently and the winning team of brothers Chris and Garry Jones with Kev Lloyd and Andy Wyatt held off the challenge of John and Jane Rix, with Bill and Helen Swindlehurst.

Round Five of the Summer League saw a win for Richard Wyatt, with George Davies in second and Andy Wyatt in third.

The May Medal Division One was won by Joe Davies, with Kev Lloyd in second and Paul Richards in third. In Division Two Steve Rushton won his first comp at Lakeside from Mark Wells in second and Wayne Davies in third.

Round Six of the summer league was won by Jane Rix, with Alan Davies in second and George Davies in third.

Round Seven was won by Pete Coleby, from Mark Wells in second and Allan Harding in third.

Finally, the Presidents Cup was held this weekend with first net and overall winner being Phil Edwards, with Andy Macdonald in second and Steve Owen in third.

Joe Davies won the gross competition from Marius Van Lill in second and Brendan Weaver in third.

The Summer League continues this week and the next competition is the annual Ryder Cup on June 3.
