Amazing score on The Golfa

Mark Williams and Daryl Griffiths shot an amazing fourball-betterball round on The Golfa on Saturday to win the Claret Cup.

Williams (16) and Griffiths (17) came in with a net 57 for a four shot lead over Steve Trow (13) and Ian Evans (17), who could have expected victory with their net 61, edging out Mark Fletcher (5) and Richard Jones (6) on the back nine.

Welshpool Ladies have started their defence of the Mid Wales League with victories over Borth and Aberdovey while Sue Schemilt won the May Medal, Heather Lawton lifted the Peggy Ross Trophy and Ann Newell win the Edna Humphreys Cup.
