Busy times at Lakeside

A lot of very good golf has been played at Lakeside over the last few weeks with the Summer League in full swing.

Week 8 saw Dai Davies take top spot with 21 points from Justine Nicoll on 20 and Sandra Davies in third on 19.

Week 9 was won by Sandra Davies scoring 21 points, just edging out David Salisbury in second and Andy Wyatt in third on the count back, with both on 21 points. Week 10 was also a very tight affair with Garry Fox taking top spot from Joe Haycock and Phil Jones, with all of them scoring 19 points.

Week 11 was won by Garry Jones on 20 points from Steve Penrose in second on 19 points and Richard Wyatt in third on19 also. Week 12 saw Jeff Down triumph on 19 points, winning on the count back from Joe Davies in second on 19 and Brian Davies in third also on 19.

Last week saw Garry Fox winning on 21 points from James Nelson in second on 20 points and Jeff Down in third on 20.

The June Stableford winners in Division One were Andy Wyatt first with 41 points and David Hedge second on 39 and Jamie Davies in third on 38. Division Two was won by Diane Pugh with 44 points, from Joe Haycock in second on 42 points and Rob Weaver in third on 41.

The Captain’s Cup was held last weekend with Lakeside’s resident South African Marius Van Lill winning on the countback from Jeff Down as both shot 63. Cyril Lewis was third on 64.

This weekend sees a team from Lakeside travel to Arscott Golf Club for a friendly match.
