A top football celebrity is expected to be in Berriew on Saturday when the the village hosts a McDonalds Community Football Funday.

The name of the former footballer has not been revealed, but it will be the icing on the cake for a busy day of football fun, organised by Berriew Juniors FC.

Head coach, Paul Inns, said it all gets underway from 12-5pm with free entry to the village recreation ground and for all the activities.

Among the activities:

Knee Slider! A 6m runway where you can practice your goal scoring celebration – and receive a Slow Motion Recording of it.

Powersave! Test your goalkeeping, diving headers and overhead kicks in safety.

Inflatable 5-a-side pitch

Speed of Shot!

Skills Event with gold/silver/bronze medals awarded in each age group, including parents! There will be limited numbers so the advice is to get there early.

There will also be a football coconut shy, football target game, swap shop, football lucky dip, hot dogs and ice creams.

“If you have any unwanted football kit or boots, bring them along and pay £1 to swap them with anything on the stall, or otherwise just offer to buy anything on the stall as no reasonable offers refused!” said Inns. “If you're able to donate any items - please just bring them on the day!”
