Hughes leads the way
Welshpool rally driver Zak Hughes leads the Swift Championship after an impressive performance in Saturday’s Harry Flatters Rally, organised by Brecon Motor Club.
Hughes and co-driver Chris Evans mastered the Epynt ranges to win the Swift event by 55 seconds and come third overall in the 1600 section and finish 30th overall.
This now leaves Hughes leading the Swift Championship at the end of round four when it switches back to gravel for the Woodpecker Rally.
"It was a near perfect day for me, it was good to get a finish after a non-finish on the last round and to win the event with five out of five stage wins was a great boost,” said Hughes.
“To win the Swifts was the target, but to also come away with 3rd in the 1600cc class and 30th overall was a fantastic result in a near standard car.”
