Welsh Cup takes centre stage
There’s a local derby to savour this weekend as the nation’s premier domestic Cup competition enters round one.
And the pick of the local JD Welsh Cup fixtures sees Abermule take on Berriew, with both clubs looking to pick up some momentum in their respective Spar divisions following stuttering starts the season.
Caersws and Guilsfield will expect to advance from their home ties while Llanidloes Town travel to Buckley and Llanfair United head to Flint Town. Carno and Lanrhaeadr face tricky home tests.
In the JD Welsh Premier, Newtown will want to bounce back from last week’s controversial defeat when they go to Cefn Druids.
In Spar One, Welshpool can go top if they avoid defeat at basement boys Machynlleth, while Montgomery host Dyffryn Banw in Spar Two eager for points.
