Llanrhaeadr pulled off the shock of the JD Welsh Cup second round today, beating Welsh Preemier League visitors Cefn Druids 3-2.

The Spar Mid Wales League side won a great tie with a Khyan Wyton winner four minutes from the end of normal time. Iwan Matthews grabbed a brace for the villagers to the delight of their joint-manager Marc Griffiths – a former Druids striker.

Guilsfield found the going too tough at Newtown, losing 2-0. A goal in either half helped the Robins progress past a stubborn Guilsfield side into the fourth round .

The Huws Gray Alliance side were in it throughout, however the Robins got themselves in front midway through the first half through Neil Mitchell and Jamie Reed netted in the second period to end Guilsfield hopes.

In the Spar Mid Wales League Welshpool Town cemented their position at the top by trouncing Llandrindod 5-0 at the Maesydre. Adam Davies led the way with an impressive hattrick with Will Thomas and Ian Probert also on target.
