COBRA see off Pool

Cobra’s bid to secure a top two place in the North Wales Division Two was given a Christmas boost following a comfortable victory over neighbours Welshpool.

The Meifod-based club clocked up a 46-0 bonus point victory at Welshpool to remain fourth, six points off second but with games in hand. The defeat leaves Welshpool in the bottom two, six points from Llangollen who have played a game less.

In the division’s other local derby, Llanidloes pulled closer to Newtown in mid-table with a 27-15 victory.

In the annual New Year’s showpiece, a combined veterans team of Welshpool and COBRA ran out 50-5 winners against Mold 3rds.
