Local bowlers Hazel Wilson and Kathy Pearce will be overseeing the Wales bowls team at the Commonwealth Games in Australia.

On the same day that Forden’s marathon man Andy Davies was named, Hazel was confirmed as team manager and Kathy as women’s coach for the event taking place on the Gold Coast from April 4-15.

The team also includes Berriew’s Catherine Taylor.

“Very proud to be selected as Team Leader for Welsh Bowls at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast,” said Hazel.

“Such an honour and looking forward to supporting the team and working with Coach Kathy Pearce, Men's Manager David Harding, Para Manager John Wilson and Director Byron John and support Margaret Wilson.

“We have a great team of talent in our bowlers, can't wait to bowl every bowl with you.”

Wales has named a 93-strong squad for the Games.
