Skipper steps up at Monty

Montgomery Town captain Luke Williams has been promoted to the manager’s post, it was announced last night.

The club has placed promotion to Spar One as its priority next season and Williams believes he is the man to deliver.

“It's something I’m very excited about, something I’ve always wanted to do and I can’t wait to get started,” he told us.

The club said in a statement: “This was obviously a great opportunity for him to move into a Management role. His main focus will be to take this club back to Spar One after an underachieving league campaign last season for the club.”

The club will launch its pre-season campaign at Caersws on July 14.
