A pair of local sisters are impressing in martial arts on the national stage, and now they are preparing to take Europe by storm!

Katie and Cerys Roberts, from Trewern, are members of the MD Warriors Martial Arts Club based in Oswestry and have just returned from a British Championship with a treasure chest of medals.

Katie, aged 12, a student at Welshpool High School, and Cerys, aged 7, a pupil at Buttington Trewern School, competed at the Kros Brothers Martial Arts British Championship, returning with no less than 11 medals.

Katie competed in eight separate disciplines: Kata (gold), weapons Kata (silver), team Kata (gold), Demo (gold), Points Sparring (4th), Continuous Sparring (gold), Grappling (gold) and Stick Fighting (silver).

Not to be outdone, younger sister Cerys competed in four different disciplines including Points Sparring (gold), Continuous Sparring (gold), Grappling (gold) and Stick Fighting (silver).

Both have now been selected as part of the Kros Brothers squad to compete in future events throughout the UK and Europe.
