Keeping up with the Joneses

The town of Llanidloes is closing in on its second consecutive Montgomeryshire Amateur League title.
 
The Reserve side is set to follow in its senior side’s footsteps after two victories in a week saw them place one hand on the Division One trophy.
 
A 2-0 midweek victory was followed on Saturday by a 3-1 win over Berriew Reserves with a trio of Jones players – Nick, Matthew and Jordan - bagging the goals. New signing James Langford replied for Berriew.
 
Caersws Reserves kept their hopes alive by hitting Churchtsoke for six. There were two goals each for Tom Lapworth and Scott Williams with James Coleman and Ben Hendleman also scoring.
 
Carno Reserves beat fading Bettws 3-1 with goals from Ioan Humphreys, Craig Scott and Chris Davies with Andrew Coppin scoring for Bettws.
 
Guilsfield Reserves made it 10 points from 12 when two goals from Jon Pritchard saw off local rivals Waterloo Reserves 2-0.
 
In Division Two, Llansantffraid Reserves won 3-1 at Kerry Reserves with goals from Ed Williams, Aaron Poole and Aron Jarvis. Luke Mumford scored for Kerry.
 
Morda Reserves beat Dyffryn Banw Reserves 7-0 with four goals from Jamie Mitchell and other strikes for Matthew Owen, Keith Meredith and Joe Pierpoint.
 
Llanrhaeadr Reserves returned from Trefonen with the points thanks to goals from Berry Morris (2), Mel Roberts and Mike Roberts to win 4-2.
 
On Sunday in M.P.Foulkes Montgomeryshire Challenge Cup, second round, Llansantffraid beat Kerry 6-1 with goals from Bryn Jones (3), Neil Prescott, Wayne Austin and Aaron Poole.
