Welshpool youngsters victorious

Welshpool Under 13s claimed the Henshalls Shropshire League title yesterday at Shelton Cricket Club, beating Church Stretton by six wickets.

After winning the toss, Welshpool elected to field and were rewarded with regular wickets falling. Church Stretton eventually posted a total of 88, having been bowled out in 18 overs.

Welshpool made light work of the chase, reaching their target in 12 overs with Sam Cadwallader (20) and Finley Hunter (17) in control of the situation before Harvey Gill scored the winning runs.

Captain Harry Bowen received the trophy from Darryl Corfield and lifted the cup for the first time in the club's history.

Hunter was also presented with the trophy for the champagne moment of the final, after taking a brilliant one handed catch.
