Last Chance Saloon: Part II

25/03/2011 @ 03:18

Part II of Welshpool’s bid to escape relegation will premier tonight at Maesydre with a cast of players determined to achieve the seemingly impossible.

Defeat tonight will again put the Lilywhites in deep, dark trouble at the foot of the Huws Gray Alliance but there’ll be an Oscar waiting for manager Chris Herbert for ‘Most dramatic football season in club’s history’ should they escape.

“We are raring to go,” said Herbert. “Last week’s win has given us genuine belief that we can win every game, and with Rhyl now last game of the season for us, anything can happen.”

Tonight they take on Penrhyncoch with Jamie Breese expected to make his debut following his midweek from Newtown. Herbert will be without Gary Pinch though after he returned to coach in the USA.

Caersws, meanwhile, look to bolster their mid table spot with a trip to Rhayader who are feeling the breath of Welshpool on their necks down at the bottom. Guilsfield are without a fixture.

Elsewhere, there is Spar Mid Wales League action tonight (Friday). Leaders Berriew take on Bow Street while Llanidloes take on Dolgellau, and Llansantffraid Village host Dyffryn Banw.

The fixture list has been disrupted by the Football Association of Wales which has given clubs a free Saturday to follow the Wales v England match (kick off 3pm).
