Arddleen remain unbeaten
In what turned out to be another stunning week of shooting in the Montgomeryshire Airgun League, no less than seven of the league’s 10 sides recorded averages over the ‘magic’ 200 mark.
But it is Arddleen who continue to lead the way, chalking up their eighth win from eight matches as the season heads towards its midway point.
This week saw Crew Green A take the points at Castle Caereinion with a 200.7-196.4 win despite the home team’s Richard Morgan scoring 35.5. Top gun for the victors was one of the corner stones of the team, John Mills, with 34.1.
In the tightest contest of the week, Crew Green B edged Newtown 203.9-201.4 on a night for the ladies in form with Sue Brown notching 35.0, closely followed by the Corbett girls from Newtown. Tabby, Jess and Marina scoring 34.8, 34.1 and 34.4 respectively.
Arddleen’s 100% record was maintained with a 205.4-194.7 victory over Llanfair. Ex international ‘Dai Tom’ Williams continued his form with a 35.3, but even he couldn't keep up with Arddleen youngster Richard Lewis scoring 35.5.
There were no possibles for Guilsfield B but good form saw them keep up their decent run at Forden with a 205.6-194.9 win. Perhaps the performance of the week came from Forden’s Dave Riley, achieving his first possible, 35.5.
The match of the week was at Guilsfield A who edged second placed Churchstoke, 208.8-206.1. It was a real ‘bullseye bonanza’ with Guilsfield’s Dave Knight finishing top scoring with 35.3, with Churchstoke’s Alan Baker breathing down his neck producing 35.2.
