A reduced fixture list won’t mean reduced options to watch some top local football on Saturday with some cracking action opening the Festive period.
Top of the bill will be the mouth-watering clash at Caersws where the early pace setters in MMP Mid Wales One will be welcoming the form side Berriew.
After a blistering start to the season, leaders Caersws have become somewhat inconsistent of late and face a Berriew side brimming with confidence and six points off the top with two games in hand.
Another big match this weekend sees Newtown look to cement their fourth place in the JD Welsh Premier when Carmarthen visit.
Unbeaten in the league at Latham Park this season, Newtown should be expected to win but slipped up in south west Wales earlier in the season, 3-0, and manager Chris Hughes is expecting “a tough match”.
There’s plenty of games in the second division of the JT Hughes Montgomeryshire Amateur League, but many teams are off to get over the Mad Friday hangovers and will be back in business on Boxing Day.
