Guilsfield into semi-finals

Guilsfield booked a semi-final date in the Central Wales Cup after a hard-earned victory over a well organised Llanidloes side last night.

 

The Daffs were hopeful of an upset after a tremendous run of form since Christmas has seen them become one of the favourites for the Spar Division One title, but Guilsfield edged through to the semi finals with a 2-1 verdict.

 

Guilsfield have enjoyed some welcome relief in the cup this season. Despite facing an anxious league run-in, they are also in the final of the Alliance Cup and have the Montgomeryshire Cup also within their sights.

 

In the Spar Division One, Waterloo Rovers upset the form book with a 2-1 win over Llansantffraid Village, ending the Saints faint chance of league honours. In Division Two, Montgomery returned to the top on goal difference with a 5-0 win at Meifod.

 

Meanwhile, Llanrhaeadr Reserves will face Machynlleth in the next round of the Emrys Morgan Cup after Mach beat Rhayader Reserves 5-2 last night.
