Rugby youths at it again

31/03/2011 @ 11:10

While it may have been another tough day at the office for Welshpool Rugby Club – going down 78-0 to Llanidloes – the youths showed there is plenty of light at the end of the tunnel.

Welshpool Youths faced a well-drilled Flint side on Tuesday evening, but a superb performance in a thrilling game saw Welshpool come out on top 22-14 on Tuesday night.

Flint opened the scoring with a converted try inside 10 minutes, but Welshpool got their noses in front just before the half when loose head prop Leighton Beddoes scored with new boy Harry Roberts converting then adding a penalty for a 10-7 lead.

Flint again started strongly in the second period with a converted try but Welshpool came into their own. Top try scorer Ryan Goodwin went over for Welshpool's second try, converted again by Roberts who then scored the winning try and conversion himself to bag the Man of the Match award.

Welshpool Youths entertain Bangor on Saturday t Welshpool Rugby Club (2.30pm).
