With a majority of rugby matches postponed at the weekend, Welshpool were handed the chance to move closer to mid-table in the WRU Division Two North.
Welshpool went into a 7-0 lead when Ryan Goodwin’s try was converted by Tom Williams, but they found themselves trailing 9-7 to a resilient Abergele side battling for their league survival at the foot of the table.
Determined to break their losing run, Welshpool dug deep and Joe Stranks crossed with Williams converting to secure the 14-9 victory.
