Montgomery add to Meifod misery

Montgomery are looking increasingly formidable in their bid for the Spar Mid Wales Division Two title.

Bottom club Meifod were put to the sword for a midweek mauling last night with Clive McNamee’s men in unforgiving mood as they chalked up a 6-0 win through five goalscorers.

Tony Meredith set the ball rolling in the 15th minute before livewire Stuart Buckley-Robins added a second on the half hour.

Gaz Bromley, one of the league’s players of the season, made the game safe with a third before three goals in the last 10 minutes from Lee Jones (Pen), Bromley again and George McNamee did the damage.

Montgomery are sitting pretty at the top, three points clear with two games in hand.

Meanwhile, Carno’s impressive March has been recognised with manager John Davies picking up the manager-of-the-month award for division one with Bow Street’s Dean Evans receiving the player award.

In Division Two, Nigel Thomas of Llandrindod Wells won the manager’s prize with Llanfyllin’s Steve Laws winning the player accolade for the month.
