Town should ‘limp past post’

Technogroup Welshpool say they confident of seeing out the season – but will face a summer fight for survival.

The club has plunged into an end-of-season financial crisis and Tuesday’s match at Guilsfield was expected to be their last.

But the numbers were crunched once again last night and The Lilywhites believe that enough cash can be found through match sponsorship, projected gate money and the club’s lottery to see them home.

“We've got the money in place just about for the weekend,” said secretary Liam Pritchard. “We then have a sponsor for the Caersws game next weekend which should cover the wages and hopefully the gate money and lotto takings between now and then will cover us for the Rhyl match as well.

“So we should just about limp home but we still have other bills outstanding.”

Pritchard is still confident that due money will be forthcoming from club sponsors Technogroup and fears that without it the club faces an anxious summer preparing for life the Mid Wales League.
