Football club folds

They gave it their best shot, but football won’t be coming home to The Lake.

Llanwddyn Football Club have made the tough decision to call it a day after struggling for numbers throughout their comeback season, and realising the outlook wasn’t great for the season ahead.

In a Twitter message, manager Jamie Williams announced he would be stepping down, meaning the club would fold after a training session to gauge interest failed to attract numbers.

“Eight people turned up, one of which is moving away,” said Williams. “We weren’t going to have enough this season, and with no changing rooms at The Lake still we would have to play somewhere else, and that’s not why I started this team.”

Despite a tough season in the amateur league, Williams said it was one which he would “never forget” before adding “I’m sorry that we couldn’t get the team back home, but, who knows, it may happen one day”.
