Welshpool have had to concede their WRU Bowl 2nd Round fixture at Whiteheads (Newport) today, writes Gary Williams from Oval Zone Rugby.
Coach, Dai Roberts, cited injuries and player unavailability as the reasons and is disappointed that the club weren't able to take on a challenge of a South Wales team.
Newtown, however, will be looking forward to their home game against Aberaeron in the same competition and there may well be a decent bowl run in the offing. All eyes will be on the men in red as they are the last remaining local club in the WRU cup competitions.
In Division One North, COBRA, are without a game as their scheduled opposition, Bethesda, are playing in the WRU Plate competition. The Meifod men will hopefully benefit from their Saturday off as they prepare for the visit of current North Wales Champions, Llandudno, in their next game.
Llanidloes, playing a home game against Bangor in North Wales Division Two, will be looking to put behind them some heavy away defeats and start turning Cae Hafren in to a fortress. Bangor are firmly rooted to the foot of the table so Llani will be looking to get some valuable points.
In the North Wales Youth League Newtown will host Ruthin.
On Sunday, Welshpool's U14 team will be looking to get to the semi-finals as they host Denbigh U14 in the RGC Under 14 Cup Competition.
COBRA Ladies, buoyant after last Sunday's convincing 68-5 win against Holyhead, will hope to continue their good form as they entertain Shotton Steel Ladies in the North Wales Women's League.
