Football Club apologises

An unnamed Welshpool Town footballer looks to have overstepped the mark with remarks about Llanidloes Town on Twitter this weekend.

Some “banter” about a surprise defeat for Llanidloes Town in the Mid Wales League has led to Welshpool Town chairman Chris Roberts issuing an apology to Llanidloes and promising to deal with the player.

The Daffs, who currently top the league, went down to a surprise defeat at Llandrindod sparking the Welshpool player to take to Twitter. His remarks have since been removed but prompted the following response:

“Shouldn’t let your jealousy fester and make you into an abusive tweeter. Glad you’ve got it off your chest though.”

In a tweeted apology Chris Roberts wrote: “As a club we would like to apologise unreservedly to a Tweet that was put out at the weekend regarding the Llanidloes result by one of our players.

“They are not the views of our club and we hope to continue the excellent friendship that exists and has for years before Twitter was invented.

“the player will be dealt with internally and once again, sorry for any offence caused.”
