Just a month after successfully hosting its last major National motor rally, a second will get into gear from the shadows of the Town Hall tomorrow (Saturday).
The Plains Rally, now in its 47th year and organised by the Knutsford & District Motor Club, will be based in its spiritual home of Welshpool and run through the tough forest tracks of Mid and West Wales.
It promises to be an exhilarating day of action with valuable income being ploughed once again into the local economy from the thousands of people drawn into the area over the weekend.
The Plains Rally is the fourth round of the 2011 BTRDA Rally Series and has attracted an entry in excess of 150 cars which will include some local stars in the line-up.
The action gets underway at 8am and the first car is expected to arrive back into Welshpool by around 4.30pm. The Town Hall will also house the Rally HQ as well as the prize presentation.
