Mac warns against complacency

Montgomery manager Clive McNamee (right) says his side “don’t do complacency”.

The experienced boss has seen it all before and knows that no side should be underestimated, no matter how high flying his team may be.

Tonight they take on Abermule in the inaugural Spar Division Two Cup, with the league title already in the trophy cabinet and the final piece of the jigsaw coming Saturday against Berriew.

But he will not be taking tonight’s opposition at Berriew lightly.

“We know Abermule will be up for it, especially with it being the last game for their management,” said McNamee. “We don’t do complacency. We will be well prepared. It is not a case of resting players or being sentimental, I will pick the team that I believe will be good enough to win. After the game I will focus on the Berriew game.”

Abermule go into the game missing young striker Chris Carroll but in the mood for an upset.

Club spokesman Bryan Jarman said: “We are going there with confidence and with nothing to lose. It’s a great achievement to reach the final after what has been a tough first season in the Spar and hopefully their efforts will be rewarded.”

The game kicks off at Berriew at 7.30pm.
